Need Help! What does it mean by calculating something in terms of something else?

For example, a question asks: calculate in terms of r: the volume of a cubic thing with an edge length of 4/3 times square root of 3r,

Answer:
It means the final formula you give should only contain the variable it's "in terms of".

For instance, the circumference of a circle can be given IN TERMS OF the radius:
c = 2 * PI * r

Or it can be IN TERMS OF the diameter:
c = PI * d

Of course, we all know that that the diameter is twice the radius, so if you knew the radius of a circle, it wouldn't be hard to find the diameter (be doubling the radius) and then applying the second equation above to get the circumference. However that second equation ISN'T in terms of the radius.

In your case, the phrase means that your final equation should have v (for volume) alone on one side of the equation and some expression with no other variables other than r on the other. You can have operators (such as + and squareroot) and constants (such as PI, or 53/94) in the expression, bu no other variables.

If you need more info, you edit the question and I can edit my answer.
It just means that they don't expect you to give just some number. Your answer should be some number of r like 24r for example.
It means to write it as a function of that something else. In this case, write the Volume as a function of the the edge length
