What other kind of equipment is involved in Electrical Engineering besides the test and measurement equipment?
Answer:
I am now, semi-retired. I worked in the profession of METROLOGY, was certified Level III, per 10 CFR 50, Critera 12, and ANSI N. 45.2.6. I have been away from this profession for about 17 years now, and suggest you search the internet for metrology, manufacturing, calibrations, laboratories,& new creations. GOOD LUCK,
Uncle Wil
You will be constructing experimental devices, for which you will need a complete machine shop and a selection of hand tools.
Sooner or later you will need a good cappuccino machine, or at least a drip coffee maker.
I grew up working from a block diagram . It is good to have some good programs to do the work for U. Learn the test equipment well as some times u can be tricked that there is a problem when there is not. Communications was good to me.
Electronics are so miniaturized these days, you need a good stereo-microscope, and very fine tip'd soldering irons to build and troubleshoot prototype circuits. Also, a machine which cuts lines on copper clad boards is useful for making prototype circuits that need only two sides, such as RF microstrip circuits.
If you deal with power circuitry at all, it is good to have electronic thermometers.
Check out semiconductor manufacturing equipment at Applied Material, KLA-TENCOR, etc.
Check out semiconductor test equipment at Teradyne, Credence, Advantest, etc.
