Once again pls help me out 10 points for the best answer.,what is this CAD,3D.,pls provide me with example..?

i want to know about cad pls pls give me example..

Answer:
*AutoCAD is a suite of CAD software products for 2- and 3-dimensional design and drafting, developed and sold by Autodesk, Inc.. The original concept of AutoCAD in the 1980s was to promote customization and feature extensibility, and was what made it especially appealing to customers. Most contemporary CAD products at that time offered little if any customization capability and most were far more expensive.

Modern AutoCAD includes a full set of basic solid modeling and 3D tools, but lacks some of the more advanced capabilities of solid modeling applications. AutoCAD can be used as a platform for other products such as Bentley AutoPLANT and COADE CADWORX. AutoCAD is a vector graphics drawing program. It uses primitive entities — such as lines, polylines, circles, arcs, and text — as the foundation for more complex objects.

AutoCAD supports a number of application programming interfaces (APIs) for customization and automation. These include AutoLISP, Visual LISP, VBA, .NET and ObjectARX. ObjectARX is a C++ class library, which was also the base for products extending AutoCAD functionality to specific fields, to create products such as AutoCAD Architecture, AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or third-party AutoCAD-based applications.

CAD stands for computer aided drawing. The most popular one is AutoCad and for 3D drawings, the popular program is Solidworks. They're just drawings for parts that have the dimensions and specifications on it, all for reference usually
As mentioned, CAD is Computer Aided Drafting. You use 2D and 3D software to model parts (or assemblies) and create drawings. The drawings contain all the information (dimensions: length, width, height, radiuses, etc.) necessary for fabrication to create the parts. Once all the parts are made, assembly would take all these parts and create a finished product. You can also create drawings of the assembly to show how the product is put together.

There are 2D software, such as AutoCAD, where it is basically like drawing on a piece of paper with a pencil --- but the paper is your computer screen and the pencil is your mouse. There is also 3D software, commonly SolidWorks. SolidWorks provides a 3D overview of your model. It is a very sophisticated piece of software, with anything you could ever want in a modeling program.

You can visit www.solidworks.com and check out some tutorials, examples, etc. if you would like.
Our office uses a system called PDS (Plant Design System) which is a 3D CAD tool. In runs with Microstation (same as AutoCAD basically, just there competitor) We also use a 3D plat design tool called Smart Plant.

With both programs you create a 3D CAD model of the plant. All the objects you create (pipe, equipment, raceways, steel, etc) have intelligence to them.

With this 3D model, you can basically walk thru your virtual plant prior to it being built. There are symbols you can get for people, trucks etc too. This software also has an interference check, can create the piping isometrics with BOMs right from the model. You can do animations, but we do not.

Then from this model you can then create all the 2D drawings you want. Plans, sections, elevations..

Smart Plant is the same as PDS but Smart Plant you can incorporate your P&IDs with the model also.
