I am a new comer of a university and everything seems very new to me.For example,in an engineering subject .?

It is called statics..anyone can help me how to treat this subject in the easiest way??

Answer:
i always thought statics was the easiest, most intuitive of the science areas. statics is the study of non-movement. any object NOT in motion is not moving because the sum of the forces acting on it are zero. simple example: a book setting on a desk isnt moving because the weight of the book is opposed by the table pushing back upward an equal amount. tip the table and the book moves because frictional force between the book and the table is too small and is overcome by the weight of the book.

statics is very simple when you think in three dimensions. forces have both magnitude and direction. you need to get familiar with the trigonometry relationships (sin, cos, tan, etc) because they are used heavily in statics.

you will see this material again in your early physics classes, as well as civil engineering structural classes if you chose that discipline.
I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. Statics is the science of objects at rest (as opposed to dynamics, which is the science of objects in motion). Basically, statics studies forces as they are applied to stationary objects (such as beams and girders in a building), and attempts to determine the stresses and strains that those objects might undergo based on the forces. It is an essential ingredient in structural engineering to determine whether the structure has sufficient strength to withstand its own weight and the weight of the load it will be expected to carry. It is also a core requirement in almsot all engineering curricula, so as an engineering student, you probably can't avoid it. It is usually recommended during the second year of study, so that you have some basic calculus behind you -- integral calculus will be required to solve for some of the distributed force problems you will encounter.

Good luck!
statics is part of mechanics along with dynamics and it is somewhat tuff to understand but no worries becoz many good books available on this subject which will try to make u understand the subject. my sincere advise is to join a patricular class or be in contact with a good prof. so that he might help u clear mechanics ------an evil
Out of all the cources I took in college Statics was among my top 5 as far as benificail to my career. It teaches you to discipline yourself to take into account everything carefully, (like every force and direction of that force where a bunch of struts come together on a bridge). If you find it hard, find a couple other guys who want to study together once a week. (drink the beer AFTER you study)
