How can I size a cyclone separator to clean saw dust ? Need sizing equations and links?

Answer:
Cyclones are mainly sized by the cfm of the system they are installed on. Cyclone manufacturers will have a table which will have the cfm of the system and which model number they should use.

For what the cfm is, keep the velocity in the ductwork around 5000 fpm for sawdust.

For every dust collection point you have, the minimum cfm should be 400 cfm. Floor sweeps should be higher than this.

If you are just taking air from the space and running it through the cyclone, take the volume of your shop in cubic feet and divide that by 6 to get an adequate cfm to use.

If this is just a cyclone for you own shop in your garage or a small shop, places like McMaster-Carr would have some. If this is more industrial or a for a large shop, maybe look more to a Donaldson cyclone.
look in book by wallas. you ll definitely get the equations
