see it depends on what interests you most. but the thing is you might not know what engineering means untill you actually finish the course. branches like mechanical, chemical, civil etc are evergreen in the sense they are core branches which ll be required definitely. in those branches too chemical engineering is the one that incorporates everything right from basics of chemistry to fluid dynamics and design of chemical reactors. it is an interesting course. go ahead good luck!

I became a Mechanical Engineer because I love fixing / troubleshooting machines.
Machine design, fluid dynamics and statics are the most useful classes for a Mechanical Engineer.

Civil For having a good fortune if u are in an it area where land prices are high
And of course the Computer engeneering
Why i say this is Because (if u are an indian) any engeneering would do as for the engineerin exept c.s the leading software companies give u adeqate training and make u attend thier job so any ingeneering to ur hearts content is preferable Yar....!!!!!!!

if you are asking in terms of dollars, the best would be to couple an engineering degree with any professional degree on top of it - law, medicine, MBA
if not money-motivated, better go with what you're interested in
life is short enough as it is, don't spend it doing something you don't enjoy - even mega-bucks don't make it worth it
