What are some pros and cons for electrical engineering overall?
Answer:
depends on what you are doing there are many sub specialties to Electrical engineering.
Power distribution - somewhat boring to me personally, but nescessary, and more meticulous attention to detail stuff. jobs are somewhat plentiful, but they are construction based, and do involve weekends and holidays for installation work.
Controls engineering - exciting to me personally, you build things that make things move, but the hours are awful, and you get called out in the middle of the night if something doesn't work exactly right. Jobs are wide open in this because of the high stress and rushing
electrical / electronic design - R&D seems to be fun, you could be developing chips or boards, and it's more like the mad scientist/inventor role...but jobs are limited and competitive from my experience.
sales - which is an engineering support function. applications engineers make pretty good specifying and applying product without doing much design, and have fairly good schedules
just start learning
there is some overlap, so you would get a chance to try em all, if you enjoy them equally, maybe do EE and Computer Engineering
