Graduated with B.S. in Civil Engineering, will graduate with M.S. in Structural Engineering next semeseter. I want to get a management degree to boost my career after graduation. Which would be better suited - an MBA or Master's in Engineering Management?
Answer:
It really depends on what kind of career you want. Whether you wish to manage a business, or manage projects . . . I received an MS in Engineering Management over ten years ago and I am working as a project manager . . . I use the same sets of 'tools', but they are applied in a different arena. The profit motive, though not irrelevant, is for the business office to worry about. Keeping within cost, schedule, and performance requirements is my concern . . .
