There are both. We will make mistakes and some "problems" will arise. And not everyone will consider the pain and feelings issues with respect to animals. The benefits though will be that we will never run short of food, and in the end, no one will be hungry. We can eventually cure all disease, and give a longer more productive life to all.
Someone will turn that to a bad thing with regard to human engineering even though a great bit of good will come of it. If you have the power and the knowledge, with any hope it will be for a positive goal, so many good roads to travel, and a few bad admittedly.
I'd wait another 20 years before i ask that question.
