How does multiplexing work??
Answer:
There are different types of multiplexing. Let's start with your television set. It is really a multiplex receiver. TV broadcast transmitters transmit on different frequencies. Your TV set can look out at all the carrier frequencies in the air, and pick out only one to let you see programs. This is called frequency division multiplex. Radios can operate in the same manner.Time division multiplex is a little different. Transmitters operate within specific time frames
The old telegraph systems utilized time division multiplex. Dozens of railroad stations or Western Union offices could be hooked up on a single wire. Operators could identify themselves, and the station to which they were sending a message. Of, course only one operator could send a message at one time.
