What makes the whistle when you blow?

Sound is caused by waves of slightly higher pressure traveling through the air. When you blow through a whistle the path of the air flowing over you lips bends. It can't bend far because the air on all sides of it pushes it back. This causes the air comming out of your lips to vibrate back and forth.
Look at what happens to a guitar string when you pluck it. it goes pack and forth. Every time it goes from one side to the other, it sends out a sound wave. The faster these sound wave come at you, the higer the note sounds
