Roughneck positions are typically advertised in newspapers under general labor and/or skilled labor. Typical jobs and search terms may include drilling operators, field technicians, field mechanics, logging, coil tubing, frac or fracturing...etc.
I would search in your local paper as well as your nearest large city paper. It also depends on the area that you live in as well. Smaller towns are where many of these companies have field offices and they do a majority of the recruiting locally and online as well. Typical options may include local work with a few hundred mile radius, overseas work, and off shore work usually in the Gulf of Mexico.
Anyhow, I worked as an intern for a large corporation out in east Texas near the border. Benefits were excellent and a majority of the work was outdoors for 12-14 hour days depending on the size of the job. They treat their employees well and depending on the employee, they can move up through the company if they are responsible, hard working, and can follow instructions.
However, it is physically demanding work and I highly suggest you or the person applying follow all safety rules regardless of what your fellow coworkers think. I've seen and heard plenty of stories where people are injured and disabled because they didn't follow standard procedures.
