I get many requests for custom plastic pads with the rider's name to be sewn into the outside of their kevlar pants. The pants have plastic pads from the manufacturer (fox racing, no fear, etc.) I am just a local college guy and I wouldn't be able to custom make injection molds very effectively and keep cost down. I had an idea to buy or make a flexible plastic and engrave the custom design from a rotary engraver similar to how 2 tone plastic nameplates are made. Here are my questions (finally!) If I want something like 2"x 8"x.125" pieces of a flexable/rubbery plastic, would I make/mix it myself or buy it? And where/what would I go/get? I hope this isn't too vague, I'm just not even sure what type of plastic would be best (flexible, durable). Any help would be appreciated!
Answer:
You could ebay/Google for a seller of rubber sheets, possibly cut them yourself if they don't offer them in the right size.
