Why doesn't anybody build a bridge that goes across the oceans?

Answer:
they are building one from alaska to russia, but its really difficult because the ocean is really deep and not very tamable. and besides the gov'ts wouldnt want to make it easier for terrorist to get into varios countries
maybe cause there would be no pit stops for miles and miles and miles and miles and miles and miles
cause the oceans are too big and too deep.
its impossible
Too costly and not practical. It would take a long time to cross a bridge over an ocean and no place to put needed rest/gas/food ect. stops.
the support world have to go to the ocean floor which no one can get to. Besides it's to expensive and would take a century to build.
You can just fly across. It would be cool though.
than you have to build gas and rest stations hotels i don't think I'd want to sleep on a bridge in the middle of the ocean.scary!!
because it would be too long, too much time, too many resources, can break easily and kill many people, endanger wild life, cause a difference in ocean water level, ruin habitats, and too costly to make
think about hurricanes, storms...they would constantly have to repair it...and it would have to be high b/c of the ships.way tooooo much money and who would pay for it? if it were going from one country to the next, both countries would probably just argue over the building, cost, etc.

look at the damn map. theres more ocean than land.

think of the pillars to hold the ocean up, that would take a **** load of work.

think about global warming and how water levels have risen.
think about storms and hurricanes.
think about jaws and the lockness monster.

basically its illogical to do so.
we have PLaNeZ

one day though, well have an elevator to the moon
who's going to pay for it, + they would have to have gas stations on the way, food stops, bathrooms. and think about how the construction process would affect the ecology
There isnt enough stable support. they would have to bulid support beams miles long in order to reach the bottom of the ocean. also, the amount of unpredictable tides, storms, and earthquakes would cause constant damage to the structure that is next to impossible to repair. plus if their were an emergancy somewhere on the bridge it could take help hours to get to the spot, considering that any kind of bridge (train or car) would take hours to cross.

Overall, the project would be too expensive, too complicated, and to difficult to work.
because bridges cost money, that you could use to build/buy a ship.
First of all because we have planes so that would be pointless and second of all it would be incredibly expensive.
It is just way too expensive. It is cheaper to send ships and to fly airplanes.
because you'll put the ships & airplanes out of business

Yahooo! another 2 points :))
