What should be the formula to convert analog frequencies (MHz)into digital Megabit per second(Mbps)?
Answer:
There is no straight "formula" to convert Mbps to MHz, as there are several factors that affect the spectrum of the transmitted digital signals:
1. The number of bits per 'bit'. Sometimes a piece of transmitted information represents more than one actual digital bit.
2. The form of modulation (PAM, PCM, phase-modulation, QAM, BPSK, etc.)
3. For PCM modulation, the transmission method (NRZ, AMI, Bi-phase/manchester, RZ, RNRZ, etc.)
Each of these has a different spectrum. Some of them go down to DC while others have no DC component. Some of them use twice the analog bandwidth (in MHz) as the bit-rate in Mbps.
I have several textbooks, but they are at home, and I can't remember exact titles or authors. If I remember to look them up tonight, I'll edit this message. Then you can look up the information for yourself.
