What is meant by effective apperture in antena?

The term "effective aperture" describes how well the physical aperture is utilized in allowing electromagentic radiation to pass into space. Effective Aperture = eta x Physical Aperture, where eta is a number that can't be greater than 1.
The effective aperture value can get close to the physical aperture value for antennas where aperture illimination is good, ie small physical aperture slots. The effective aperture value can also be pretty small compared to the physcial aperture in aperture antennas like parabolics with poor aperture illumination.
