How does a clock in cell phones, compuers, and all such devices work even wen they are switched off completely.?
Answer:
Even desktop computers contain a system clock battery.
The battery is designed to let the system keep time for as much as 15 years without power.
Look in a computer and you will see what looks like a large watch battery. If you take this out the computer will forget the time and you will have to reset it along with many other major functions.
They are still running off the internal battery

Heh, it may seem that devices are shut off, but almost nothing really totally shuts off. Most devices, especially those with clocks, never totally shut off. Keep in mind that a cheap watch from Walmart can work for years, it doesn't take much to power a clock. Devices like computers and cell phones can get the current time from a network in order to stay in sync.
Many of these devices have an internal battery that keeps teh clock running, but the display off.
Cell phones pickup time from the provider's network. hence they always sync to local time while traveling.
In cell phones the time is updated by the network when you turn it on. In my video camera i had to put in a small battery separate from the camera rechargeable battery for specifically that purpose.
1 of 2 ways:
1. they continue to use a small amount of power from the battery to keep the time.
2. They pick up a signal as soon as they are turned back on, cell phones set the time automatically from the network signal, sometimes if you turn your phone off, then turn it back on in an area where there is no service, it won't show the time, this is because it lost the time while off, and can't find a signal to tell it the current time.
have you ever noticed that after you remove the battery from your cell phone - wait a while - replace it and turn your phone on that the phone knows the right time - why do you think that is -
Duh its a cell phone - the system tells it what time it is when it comes up on the network -
