Why do we still use the Imperial system when the SI is Metric and its more accurate?

Answer:
I think it's basically the cost associated with converting and the fact that there isn't much economic justification for it. The cost has to do with changing all kinds of things in industry. For example, the company that I worked for was very large and had thousands and thousands of mechanical drawings of equipment. When the push came a number of years ago to metrify, the design area started converting drawings to metric dimensions. It took years to accomplish and tied up resources and had no impact on profits.
The metric system isn't any more accurate than the imperial system. It IS easier to comprehend and to perform conversions, because everything is based on powers of 10 (one liter = 1000 ml, rather than 1 quart = 32 oz, for example). But an imperial quart is every bit as accurate a measure as a metric liter.

And the reason we Americans haven't changed to the metric system is because we are stubborn. There have been efforts to effect the change (which is why just about everything in this country, although measured in imperial units, always has the metric equivalent in parentheses), but we as a nation just can't let go of the old ways.
all of the machines and the tools used to work on them within the country are using English Standard measurements the transition would be too costly
We the US are fazing out the Imperial system, but you have to realize that the US has factories, cars, trucks, etc. That were built under that system thus have parts, nuts, bolts, etc made under it. Well they need parts, they need to be fixed. So the demand for such parts is present, so therefor, you must still teach both. It will take some 100 years to faze out everything made under the old system. Just because you adopted a better system, you just can't flip a switch and become ignorant and ignore of the old one.
FYI: The US does use the metric system now, but until all the old stuff is used up and replaced with the new. YOU NEED TO KNOW IT!
coz most imperical equations were developed in USA anUK and both use imperial system
