Suppose all the Bridges in a large city were closed?

What effect would that have on that city? What are some specific ways that people would adapt to not using bridges?

Answer:
Everyone with a small flat bottomed boat would make a fortune as they converted them to ferries.
well...first off...i know a lot of people would panic if it was a large city, since it needs it more. they'd maybe stop being so dependent on bridges or make some of their own. maybe they'd make lk ramps out of dirt.
As a result of closure of all the bridges there will be very bad traffic jams on roads that connect different pieces of lands within a city. Its natural that people will resort to using other roads that connect different pieces of land cuz its natural that within a city there may not be pieces of land that can be completely classified as islands. There will be chunks of lands or lines of land connecting one mainland to another.

Using ferries is another option that can be used if islands constitute a city.
