How far are miiltary robots progressing?

I read how the pentagon is trying to develop all kinds of robots for combat use

Answer:
They are pretty far along. We still need human soldiers, but we have things like the Predator Unmanned Aerial Vehicle drone. This is a fully functional spy plane and even carries bombs when necessary. This robot can use remote control, but can work alone to accomplish a goal.

There is also the SWORDS robot, which is basically a 3 foot by 4 foot by 4 foot remote control tank.

The DARPA challenges (autonomous cars) have spawned some of the coolest robots you will ever see. Last year's off-road race was geared toward the military, and autonomous supply vehicles are already in use.

We're quite far along, but we will most likely always have some sort of humanelement to the battlefield.
here is a great site for that info. this site is supposed to be an general overview of several dept of defense robotic projects so that each can get an idea of where they are in the development process...

I've found a lot of sites like this as I research for my business www.tinmanrobotics.com
