Do I stand a chance at UC Berkley's Graduate Electrical Engineering program?
3.56 GPA
1330 GRE (760Q 570V 4.5A)
9 months research experience (control systems)
president of student engineering council
big 10 university
I am not trying to be cocky or anything, I am just looking to get a sense of where I should and should not apply.
Thanks!
Answer:
First, making sure you know what area you would want to focus your graduate studies in. The school's name isn't always the best when it comes to the job market. Make sure that they have renowned professors there in the area(s) you are interested in. Looking at your numbers I dont see why you wouldn't have a chance at that school. Only thing that might get you the amount of funding they mayve have available for new students in that department. Check on that first. If the numbers are low then the competition will be high. I went to a big 10 school as well and obtained a BS in engineering so I know the work you had to put in. One source that will get you a glimps of the numbers they average for incoming students is the U.S. News and World Report: America's Best Graduate Programs. They have everything from their personal rankings to average gpa, gre, research grants, the list goes on. That will give you an idea on the schools you are interested in.
In the glossary under engineering you will see ALL the schools in the US, Mexico and the Virgin Islands with graduate engineering programs.
Good Luck.
