When was air conditioning introduced/invented?

like on a wide scale use?

Answer:
The Air Conditioner (U.S. Pat# 808897) was granted in 1906 and it was invented by Willis Haviland Carrier. I never knew that!
I believe that some 20 years before Carrier developed the mechanical air conditioner, a movie theater cooled the interior by blowing air over a large quantity of ice. I can't recall the city the theater was in but recall a photo of the marquee with "Cool Inside" getting top billing over the name of the movie.
The Palaces of the Pharaohs of ancient Egypt (c 3500 BC) were already using the condensing properties of stone and desert to make ice cubes and fanning air over them to produce air cooling/conditioning.
