Help me please,its urgent?

i am confused whether to pursue my BTECH in computer engineering or in electronics and communication engineering. I am good at physics and like to apply my theoretical knowledge in practice. Also please guide with the work involved, placement opportunities and package in the two fields in detail. Also I wanted to know whether the college from where you do your BTECH matters or is it simply the self-study and hard works that pays?

Answer:
i think both the fields r having good job oppurtunities but it depends on ur marks and ur skills like communication skills so it depends on u which field u think is more interesting and it matters a lot frm which collg u r pursuing ur btech but hardwork and studies on ur part are also important these all points simultaneously affect a lot ,one factor can not be held responsible
Hi,

First of all let me tell you one thing: NAME SELLS.

So it not only matters that from which college you pursue the course , it also matters that in which stream you pursue it.

I feel that the IT sector is already a part of our day to day life and it is one of the best options as far as the market is concerned and most important highest paying.

I am myself an electronics engineer and somewhere i feel that computer engineers have several options open for them as compared to any other field.

Now-a-days it has become a trend of shifting the stream to computers despite of any engineering background and this can be confirmed by the way the computer institutes like NIIT etc have flourished in the past several years. So IT sector is the best option.

Try to pursue the course form an AICTE approved institute (here is the link: http://www.aicte.ernet.in/ ) and YES hard work always is an edge over others considering the kind of competition in the market and professional life.

Work involved in IT sector is to write codes (at the baisc level or entry level in an organisation). You will be given projects with time deadline and you will need to put in lot of efforts and use of logic to full fill the requirement.

Placement will depend on the level of the institute. Top notch institutes help you in entering the best of IT firms: eg Infosys, TCS etc. You obviously can try it on your own also as these firms keep on recruituing freshers which includes a written test and an interview.

I hope this info helps.

All the best!
Parul, degree in Electronics will lead you in hardware field...although these days Electronics people are also equipped to solve software (programming to name one) related problems/issues...
I have a EE degree from a US school, but I work as a Systems Engineer for Satellite Industry...combination of things...I've done hardware design to analysis to testing to software in just short career of mine...so it will be a mix...
Where you get your degree matters only for the first or second employer after that your work productivity and performance is measured...An average student who have mediocre grades in college can contribute in other ways at work...for example great work ethic, honesty, hardwork, cooperation among others/team work, leadership, stress handling all these things will matter and can't be taught in school...My advice to you is...instead of planning do it and let it take you where it takes you...bachelors also leads to Masters that can be acquired later...and for specialization if you have those plans you don't even need to worry about which Bachelors it is...I have known people who have BTECH and have gone to earn their masters in Engineering and have been very successful in corporate world...

Hope this helps in some fashion...
Take care
