How do the people get the traffic lghts on poles so high up in the air?
Answer:
The poles are shipped in on tractor trailers to the sight of the new light. DOT workers then use a small crane to erect the pole in place, then setting the pole using industrial nuts and washers. Then DOT workers use a bucket truck to hoist themselves to the top and once there, they fish the wires out, down to the bottom of the pole, then routing them to a command module (Usually a 4 foot silver stainless steel box located near the traffic light). Then, the same crane that lifted the pole will lift the light box up to the point wherea then the workers will mount it and connect it to the wires and presto! you have a brand new light! Even the Egyptians got obelisks straight up, so nothing is impossible. The poles are easy to put up, but there is some wiring to do, so I suspect they use a "cherry picker" to hoist the position the light while personnel inthe cherry picker do wiring.
they use a man/crane called a "cherry picker'
