How can we build a model air plane without a remote control or explosives?

my partner and i need to build a model air plane for a project. we it to sustain flight for 75 ft. it cannot have a remote control or explosives, but it can have a motor or engine. so does any one have any ideas on getting started.

Answer:
Well, I don't believe a rubber band powered plane would do so well, but what you need to do is go to your local hobby shop, buy a decent lightweight GAS powered plane and strip all the electric components including the cylinders used on the rudders but dis-including the rudders and basic flight components. Then I would recomend you fill all the holes with 5-minuet epoxy then making it airtight and good to fly. Then you should tweak with the rudders and other components until you have acquired your 75 foot goal. Note: you will then start the engine, then launch the craft as you would a glider.
The easiest suggestion would be a balsa wood plane with a rubberband powered propeller or if you could just make a very good glider and launch it, that would work.
Make a paper airplane and put a electric motor in it! You seem to be a typical engineer coming out of college so don't design anything I have to ride in! Especially if your coming out of MIT!
