How many legal feet is allowed between electrical poles ?

Legal feet of wire.

Answer:
It depends on the capacity -- is this distribution or feeder cables on the streets.

For 115 kV ... The average span, or distance, between poles would be 650 feet, with the minimum span being 400 feet and the maximum span being 900 feet.
What is an illegal foot?

Ha ha sorry. Smile, don't thumbs down me. It's funny you know it.
Depends on the gauge of the wire, the number wires, and the type of poles. Can be up to 800 feet, or as little as 50 feet.
on my street about 170 feet.
MIKE
I am not sure that legal ordinances directly mandate that sort of thing in most cases. The installers want the poles close enough together to keep the wires from coming against each other during a high wind but not so close together to send installation costs through the roof.
<<How many legal feet is allowed>>

and you ask because?

- you want to sue somebody?
- you want another pole installed?
- you're afraid the wires will fall down?

really, you want the city council to take this up?
that's going to help?
and they know better because?
maybe you want the folks who could get sued if someone gets electrocuted to decide what's safe.
well that depends if you have two feet then two fett but goats .4 feet and centapids oh my god!
The national electric code says that you can do what a licensed electrical engineer says is okay. Engineers calculate where the poles should go. There is no standard table to use because of the variations in terrain, soil, pole type, wire type, etc.

In most cities spacing is about 150', but it varies widely.
