Engineering Plastic Product Manufacturing Question?
The material requirements are to be wear resistant, rigid, tight tolerances, relatively easy to machine, and no swelling (as it will be submerged in water for extended periods of time).
My idea was to find a roto-molding company, and have them make the part out of either HIPS, a HS Polycarbonate alloy or ABS.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Answer:
actually, you might be better off with an injection molding like process or an ABS 3 dimensional printer. Just beware when using polycarbonate. It swells up a TON when wet and becomes very weak... ABS may be your best bet
Hello! If you have a drawing of this product I would be glad to take a look at it for you and see if I can help you out. I have a small company that builds plastic injection molds and we also have the capabilities to run the production on them if needed. We have 45 years expierence in Moldmaking and I am confident we could be of assistance.
Looking forward to hearing from you! There is contact info on my website.
