Microwave usage?
Answer:
It all depends on how much wattage it is using. IxE=P
Which is amps X volts = watts. I dont know if you are on a
120v 60hz or 220v 50hz system. But unless your using it all day long your bill should not go up drastically. Its probably something else in your residence, like a pool pump motor, or a refrigerator that is running more than normal.
Yes. Microwave oven uses a lot of electricity but it cooks faster that using conventional oven. Example, if you cook meat in a microwave, it will only take you minutes while it will take hours if you use conventional oven thus consume a lot of gas. Tips on microwave usage.
1. Slice the meat thinner or smaller (faster cooking)
2. Don't use oversize cooking vessel
it dont use that much so it aint that, turn off all lights at night except outside ones u want ppl to kno ur there so they dun break in shut down tvs n cable box's u live in Australia well maybe its ur central air useing alot its probably hot there i dont know. and that dude is wrong it only takes minutes to cook right only a minute or 2 if it ran for a half hour trying to cook something then yes i could see that but the little thing dont use much electricity to produce the microwave's that cook the meat,
very little electrical enery is coverted into high energy microwaves the cost of the electricity is equal to running a one bar electric heater for the time the oven is working
Microwaves are typically 500-750 watt devices. Electricity in the US is charged by the kilowatt hour.
So a 500 watt microwave 6 minutes( 1/10 hour) will consume 500 * 1/10 watt hours = 50 watt hours = 0.05 kilowatt hours. 1 kilowatt hour in the US is about $0.10 or 10 cents so 0.05 kilowwatt hours cost is $0.0010.
So for a 500 watt microwave, 1 hour of operation would cost about $0.05 or 5 cents in the US
You will have to adjust these numbers for the Australian ratesand your microwave power rating, but this gives you the foundation for the calculations. I don't see how your microwave could be causing high electricity usage, even if you used it 6-7 hours per day.
