Can music signals work in a transformer?

just wondering

Answer:
Depends on what you mean by 'work'. But output transformers for tube amps definitely transformed the music signals (power amp output) to something the speakers could handle. ~
There is distortion
Sure, all the time. The transformers are made specially to handle the required linearity and bandwidth of music. Ordinary power transformers are not very good because they don't have those characteristics. The music you hear in most auditorium settings is being handled by transformers probably twice between its generation and your ears.
