These are two specialties of EE. The communication has nothing to do with robots except in the distant relationships. I would go with instrumentation. However, you will have to know several aspects of mechanical engineering and Newtonian physics.
The electronics is important for automation. There is special disciplene named robotics in curriculam. Yuo may opt for that.
