How do you do the formula for series and parallel circuts?

what formula do you need?
in a series circuit, to calculate total resistance, just add them up. you can of course find the resistance at any node if you know the current and voltage at that node using ohms law R=V/I V=IR I = V/R. current drops in a series circuit but stays the same in parallel circuits. voltage is the opposite. using kirchoffs voltage law the voltage at all nodes must equal the source voltage. for a parallel circuit you can find total resistance by the following formula Rtotal= 1/((1/r1)+(1/R2)+(1/R3)+(1/R4)... this works for as many Resitors as you have. An easier formula is the product of the two resistors divided by the sum of the two resistors THIS ONLY WORKS WITH TWO RESISTORS AT A TIME. i hope that helps you out

resistors, two resistors in series ( one after the other ) you add the value, for parallel you put the value under one and then add them, or you can do the formula,
capacitors are different, they add when in parallel and when in series use the formula or put the value under 1 and add,
Total resistance in series = r1 + r2 + r3...etc.
Total capcitance in parallel=c1+c2+c3...etc.
Total resistance in parallel =1/r1 + 1/r2 + 1/r3...etc, then divide into 1 (take the inverse).
Total capcitance in series =1/c1 + 1/c2 + 1/c3...etc, then divide into 1 (take the inverse).
