Please Explain, What's diffferent between Megger and Insulation tester?

A megger is a high voltage insulation test of wiring and its insulation to every other wire and wire shield in the cable or bundle., It also usually includes a continuity check of each wire in the cable.
An isolation check is just a low voltage resistance check between wires in a cable and any wiring shields.
a megger is an instrument where you crank the generator to supply 1000v to measure insulation resistance higher than 1 meg ohms. insulation tester just used the internal battery to measure insulation resistance less than 1 meg ohms.
Megger is a brand name for insulation test instruments. Insulation testers apply a high voltage and measure the leakage across the insulation by measuring resistance.
megger was popularized by Biddle and company and it is also an insulation tester, hipot test or insulation test is used to detetermine the leakage current of cable insulations, transformers and generators or other electrical equipments . insulation test readings can also determine the polarization index of a motor or generator. machines having windings with a lower index are less likely to be suited for operation.
Both does the same job, the Megger is just a much older design. Insulation Testers are mainly electronic these days.
