Self certifying the CE mark for a table lamp design.. How Please ?

I intend to make table and floor lamps and understand the design requires a CE Mark.

Can anyone offer any advice on this process for these specific items. I don't want to have to pay for every design I make.

Answer:
Most products which are within the scope of European product legislation can be self-certified by the manufacturer and exporter and do not require the intervention of a Notified Body. Certain products may not be self-certified, but must be subjected to the EC type-examination. This examination involves the inspection of a representative example by or on behalf of an external inspection organization or Notified Body within the EEA.

Notified Bodies are independent testing houses or laboratories authorized by the EU member states to perform the conformity assessment tasks specified in directives. Manufacturers and exporters may choose a Notified Body in any EU member states.
