Bought lawn rake, lead short need ext' lead, instructions say don't use 3 core flex, why? its double insulated

this lawn rake it no different to any other mower, 2 core double insulated, have used 3 core extension leads before - no problems. could it be something to do with motor jamming/burning out, inducing voltage in earth cable in real and back to board, its only a 600w motor

Answer:
its talking about the cable, British style cabling has 3 wires inside while lots of other products made over seas have only 2. ie. Live and neutral. Hope this helps.J
waste of money only as there is no earth connection to make-so if 2 core is cheaper then use it-otherwise it doesn't really matter.
Most Gardening Equpment now is Double insulated
This term comes about because the total housing is non conductive ( plastic)
You CAN use a three wire extension lead but you will not be albe to connect the earth wire as there is no earth wire from the equipment

Providing you DO NOT connect the earth pin to anything from the EQUIPMENT it is quite safe for you and the equipment

If you have a three core extension lead you want to use thats OK because the plug on the
equipment will only have two wires anyway
= live and neutral .
Buy an extension lead!
