How to be a software engineer?

I am in class 10.what should be my preparation from right now in order to get selected in IIt

Don't you have a high school counselor to help you with that? You definitely need to take as much math and science as you can and try to take some computer programming classes is they are offered at your school. You can also take them at a community college as a student-at-large.
Try to learn the basic programing languages such as C, C++, and in the later stage touch Java further.

currently, am doing computer engineering...i would say that right now, just concentrate on your ssc exams...try to score and do well in your hsc and get into an engineering college (either the computer or IT field)...programming languages (c, c++, java etc) will be your subjects in that field...and just develop your interest and knowledge along the way...you can do extra courses if you want, but only during the vacations...
