May I ask you to send me an article about welding austenitic stainless steel?
Answer:
304L has better corrosion resistance, especially after welding, than general 304.
Matweb has information on many materials. The link below contains general info on 304L while mentioning welding briefly.
More precisely 304L (carbon 0.03% max) is a type of 304 (0.08% max). Since only the Maximum content of carbon is specified, you see that 304L also perfectly fits the 304 spec. This means 304L has a narrower range of tolerance, thus is more consistent in its properties.
