What do u mean by ripple current in electronics?

Answer:
When alternating current (AC) is used to supply electronic equipment, a rectifier is used to convert the AC to direct current (DC). Rectified DC is just a series of sine wave pulses that are all in the positive direction. The resulting DC varies somewhat rather than being smooth and constant like the DC from a battery. The variations, which occur at the same frequency as the un-rectified AC, are called a ripple voltage. To smooth the ripple voltage, a capacitor installed across the output. The ripple voltage causes a ripple current to flow in the capacitor. Current flows into the capacitor when the voltage approaches a peak and flows out of the capacitor when the voltage approaches a valley. The capacitor thus smooths the voltage by storing energy to flatten the peaks and filling the valleys.

When alternating current supplied by the wall outlet is used in electronic circuits, it must be converted to direct current (as this is the form of electricity that most electronic circuits run on). In order to do so, the AC is passed through an AC/DC converter. This device consists of a rectifier (a diode circuit that essentially inverts all negative half-waves of the AC to positive half-waves, to the resultant voltage is always positive), coupled with a low-pass filter to smooth out the rectified voltage. This produces a "mostly" DC voltage, but the filter isn't perfect so there is still a small AC component in it.

The result, when viewed on a scope, is a line that averages at the DC voltage desired, but which "ripples" at the line frequency (either 50 or 60 Hz depending on your location in the world). A good DC supply will generate ripple of 5% or less (i.e. for a 5 VDC output, the actual voltage will vary between 4.75 and 5.25 VDC).
