Lemon light science project with no success?

using 1 lemon. copper wire from galvanized nail. copper wire from penny. 1.2volt lightbulb.

Answer:
It is the voltage developed between a zinc electrode and a copper electrode in the presence of an electrolyte that causes the light to glow.

If either metal is not exposed properly, or they are too far apart, or the bulb has too low a resistance, enough current may not flow even if the voltage exist.

If the wires are brought close to each other, but not touching, and an LED is chosen instead of a tungsten bulb better chances of the circuit to work. Sometimes substituting an aluminum wire for the galvanized nail also helps.
Make sure the metal surfaces are clean and that there's plenty of zinc coating on the nail.
