In terms of a thermocouple, what does SPC mean??
Answer:
It may stand for Statistical process control - whereby you keep tracking of readings.
It's a Data Collection System called 'Statistical Process Control'.
a thermocouple is normally used as a saftey
device on gas fires or boilers,it senses the pilot
light flame and becuase of the reaction of the metal
alloy tip, which is in millivolts ,about 7th.. it then signals
to the main gas valve its safe to open,so allowing
full gas flow to the appliance.i am looking for your
SPC ,dont know other than above?
I know a bit about thermocouples and cant think of any technical properties that could be termed SPC.
SPC does stand for Statistical process control as pointed out by the previous answers. This is a method for determining in real time the on going quality of a process typically in manufacturing, in practise a process engineer will use SPC to help him adjust the process the keep the quality on track.
Thermocouples are not easy to manufacture to high accuracy, which is dependant on keeping the alloys at a constant quality and avoiding metallurgical defects and work hardening. SPC would be used to help with this.
Mercury thermometers are easier to manufacture to a high degree of accuracy.
Thermocouples are used in a vast range of industrial applications and also some domestic. Indeed they will be used to help control the very processes that manufacture them!
