Help solving circuit?

stuck.

i have a coil with 0.318H inductance and a 30R resistor in series with a 53uF capacitor across a 24v, 50Hz power supply.

i need to calculate the circuit impedance the current and the phase angle!`

i also want to draw scale phasor and impedance diagrams.

Answer:
If all 3 elements are in series (you weren't clear whether the resistor is in series), then add each element's impedance to get the total impedance of the circuit:

Ztotal = R + j*L*2*pi*f - j/(C*2*pi*f)

where
j = the square root of -1
R = 30 ohms
L = 0.318H
C = 53 x 10^-6 F
f = 50 / sec
pi = 3.14159...
(The units of each term in the sum work out to be ohms).

After you plug in the numbers, express Ztotal as a complex number, with a real and an imaginary part. That is the impedance.

The phase angle is arcTan( Zimaginary / Zreal )

Hope this helps. Good luck!
