In reference to digital osscilliscopes and the sampling rate what does the term kSa/s stand for? I know it is something like kilo samples (?) per second. what is the a for?

Answer:
Sa/s definitely stands for Samples/second (and k is for 'kilo').

.
I thought it was just to distinguish SAmples from Seconds, but I'm not actually sure.
You're right. It's kilosamples per second. So, 48kSa/s would be 48000 samples per second.
