3 phase systems - Generator terminal voltage?
try to solve the following problem.
A series wound generator has an armature resistance of 0.1ohm and field resistance of 0.2ohm respectively
and an induced e.m.f. of 280v
what is its terminal voltage when supplying a load of 100A?
Answer:
Assuming that the generator was connected in WYE,
dropped voltage across the armature and field is equal to ,
(0.2 + 0.1) x 100 = 30 V
Phase voltage is 280 - 30 = 250 V
Line to line voltage is 250 x sqrt(3) = 433 V
