How can I do my part to protect the Earth / environment?
Answer:
Al Gore has a political agenda. He preaches his message while he flies around on a private jet, and has a mansion and lifestyle that wastes more than 50 average families. Yes, he's passionate, but his motive really isn't to help the environment. If it were be then he'd set an example to do his part.
But to answer your question, yes I do my part. 90% of the lights in my home are compact florescent, and I use LED night lamps and flashlights. I try to avoid products with excessive packaging. I turn up the air conditioner a few degrees, and the heating down a few degrees. I drive a small car (not a hybrid) which averages 40 mpg city and highway. And I'd like to see a deposit-system for bottles, cans. And I'd like to see an excessive packaging tax as well as a tax on flyers, junkmail, and newspapers.

better yet recycle it
I don't know if you have small children, if you do, don't use disposal diapers. Use rags to clean up messes around the house instead of paper towels. Put power strips on all of your appliances like tv, vcr, dvd, stereo, microwave to completely shut them off. We don't need a clock on every single componant we own. When you replace an appliance, find one without all of the digital gadgets. Experiment with solar ovens. I live offgrid which makes things different, but I used 28,000 watts of electricity in the city and now I use 2500 watts. I realize this is very conserative, but you can look at your electric and water bill to know your usage. Then make small changes to cut it back. Of course you will pay more per watt and more per gallon with the utility companies. They offer no incentive to conserve.
Switch to those energy efficient light bulbs, don't waste water by watering yor flowers with leftover drinking water, and switch to Seventh Generation cleaning products that don't use harmful substances like ammonia.
The best thing that you can do for the environment is to call your Senators and Comgresspersons and tell them that you want a blockade of all Iraninan Oil exports.
Tell then that a blockade has very good precedent. President John Kennedy blockaded Cuba in the 1960's to stop the import of nuclear missiles.
Iranian funding of world wide terrorism is as much a threat to us as nuclear missiles in Cuba.
We have every right to blockade Iran and we must do it now.
This would not only shut off the funds that are used for terrorism to murder innocent people, but it would also cut the use of fossil fuels dramatically and help with Global Warming as well.
The amount of energy that you can save by recycling more, turning off applicances and riding your bicycle are so small they are insignificant adn really do not make a contribution to stopping Global Warming.
These are nothing more than trivial publicity items to let people think they are actually doing something about Global Warming although they are not.
.
If you will help us get a blockade of Iranian Oil exports you will make a very significant contribution to a much better environment.
I
you can start with your family and most of all friends.tell them not to throw garbage or any other waste like plastic bag, chocolate wrappers or any such stuff on roads or in parks.ask them to throw it in dustbins nowhere else.use less electricity by switching off fans, lights when not required.use water when needed this will help to conserve water of tiger reserves as our water comes from there.try to use natural things as much as possible.give such suggestions to everyone you know.
be like sheryl crow and use only 1 toilet tissue to wipe your @$$
Well here are some things you could do...
1.recycle (paper, plastic,bottles)
2.Don't drive your car as much
3.Use less gas
4.Buy a hybrid car
5. Use less (paper towels, ecxt)
6.Water plants and keep them healthy
I always cared for the enviornment so if you want to discuss things like global warming here is my e-mail ap_vee@yahoo.com You don't have to though... after all I am only an 11 year old.
simple: recycle, pick up trash, form a club to help, join a national wildlife center.
recycle. encourage your local town to make everyone to recycle. plant trees. cut down on the use of your car where you can, write to your local state govt.(house of reps, senator) encourage them to recycle, have them to encourage the power cos. to use more wind generators as they put out zero poluttion.
Do what you do best. What ever that is, farming, publicity, politics, writing, movie making, photography or whatever. Take what you do best and apply it to the environment. A farmer might switch to insecticide free farming. Publicity is obvious. Politics is another obvious (Al Gore). You can write, make movies or photograph the environment. Find your passion and just do it.
