Hold your head high and go to the class to actually learn, not have cat fights with oldies. gossiping and fighting always happen in the worst places like class and work. Just show 'em YOU DON'T CARE!
Simple, don't sit by them and ignore them. Older people aren't that bad maybe even try to get to know them..

It may just be a case of you extending the olive branch first. I think some older people just assume that someone younger is going to act like a know-it-all. Try to engage them in a short conversation or try to tap into their knowledge about something and they're probably open up. Now, if it's an anger management class...
