Global Warming?
Answer:
You're exactly right
I really believe in global warming. Our environment is really changing and things can be done to improve it not only for Earth itself, but our health as well! Don't let the media sway you into actually making your decision for you, do some research read some articles, talk to others!
no its real just not sure how much we can slow it down. the poles may also be shifting again...
Looking purely at scientific data and personal expierience in changes of weather patterns even in my home region (extended, highly unusual drought and population displacement from nearby Pacific islands) I can assure you that global warming is happening. It's true that the earths average temperature fluctuates over time, but never before in history has the temperature risen so quickly and dramatically as in the last century.
Certain immoral governments and companies have tried to muddy the water by the means of lobby groups for economic profitability, however it is important that we accept that it's happening and cut down on carbon emissions as quickly as possible.
If it wasn't such a threat, why has every government in the world held or attended regular numerous, expensive conferences on the matter?
The ugly truth is that it's happening.
I really believe in global warming.
And you would be hard-pressed to find a scientist worth his credentials, that does not.
the issue isn't whether it is occurring or not, because it is. the issue is trying to figure out what man's part in it, is.
but then again, you probably should define "global warming" because it doesn't mean what most people think it does, nor are the consequences what those same people think.
In reality, it is "gobal climate change", that will drastically effect many species causing many of them to not exist. Likewise, it will increase disease factors and cause severe weather.
I have to disagree with you global warming is happening all around us! The polar ice caps are melting, winter have gotten warmer! Scientists now predict that in a 100 years or less the sea level will rise to the point of New Orleans becoming under water!
Martin... how old are you now? What makes you say that Global warming was already an issue 4,000 years ago? I am already 42 and living near the equator. I have seen changes in the weather here in the Philippines, and how this wrought havoc to people's lives here. I know what life was 30-20 years ago and how it is now. As a researcher, I have seen the causes of these havocs. I do not think that the findings are lying.
Do your research Martin. It is not just a matter of belief. It is a matter of fact. Whether you like it or not, global warming is already here. Do not let your ignorance deceive you or it might be too late for you to run when the ice started to melt.
These tree hugging secular progressives make me sick. the planet has been changing temp.up and down a few degrees throughout its life. Al Gores movie sucked almost as much as Monica Lewinsky did . God it is so hard to believe that people are stupid enough to line up just to get on this global warming train going nowhere. just another way of sending more jobs to China where they don't give a rat's ** about pollution.
Watch "An Inconvenient Truth" when you get a chance.
It explains a lot and is very compelling.
Yes, I believe there is global warming and yes, I believe your daughter will grow up. I think the world is changing due to global warming (for those of us who have different seasons, think back to what they were like when you were younger versus now). I think people will adapt to live in the world however they can. But, I think it is warming faster due to technology and the increased population.
There is always changes in temperature, and there have been for centuries, but it just appears that we are seeing more warm temperatures and less cooler ones.
I think it is happening. All the crazy weather we've been having in this country lately could definitely be proof of that. But I think whether you believe it or not is out of the question. but if we know we can help the environment than why not purchase some new light bulbs and things. Whether it's true or not shouldn't be the issue. A lot of pollution and stuff is bad for our health so instead of saying we should do all this for global warming we should just do it for our own health and for the health of our children and why not help out the planet at the same time. Then everyone wins. That's my take on it
I defiantly believe in Global Warming. Its actually getting worst by the years and there is scientific proof that it is. Global Warming is a really controversal arugment and the real answer to weither or not Global Warming is occuring will come sooner or later.
Global warming is definitely real. I can tell you that from my own experience. Winters that I experienced in the 1970s were much coder than the winters of the 1980s. The 1980s had colder winters than the 1990s.
Global warming has only been discovered in the last twenty years. There was no such discussion before that. Global warming was created by industrial pollution that has only existed since the late 1800s.
You are right that your daughter will grow up, but she will have to deal with the difficulties created by Global Warming. She live with higher temperatures, many more droughts and expensive food.
Take care,
Troy
Honestly, if you have not seen An Inconvenient Truth, I suggest you see it. I was a huge skeptic in the beginning, but this movie really gave me a look at the larger picture.
It explains more than we can on here...
Believe it or not, the world has warmed up before! Believe it or not, the world has cooled down. It all has to do with the carbon concentrations in the world. The world naturally repeats cycles over and over again. So even if we are heading into a warming, it'll eventually cool, and anything we do can not contribute a drastic effect to counter act the natural cycles. Besides, we're due for a future ice age.
I do not believe in global warming. Everyone thinks that theres going to be a big flood. Remember why God put the rainbow in the sky? To remind us that it would never flood again. What you should really worry about is the stars in the sky. They are balls of gas that will destroy earth one day.
Repent and believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior and you won't have to worry about it.
It is true that temperatures have fluctuated throughout history between very warm and very cold temperatures, so I do not believe that the changes in weather alone prove the effect we are having on the environment is a negative one. However, the change in weather paired with other problems we are seeing like extinction, health problems, depletion of natural resources, etc. prove that there needs to be a major concern for our environment, and we need to take action immediately. Sure things might not get bad enough fast enough that your daughter's life will be in danger, but what about her kids, or your great grandchildren, etc. It's hard to think about people that far ahead in the future, but they will appreciate the actions we take now!
The United Nations panel on climate change report on 2007, say that they are 90% certain that man is the cause. Check out this graph released by the IPCC. http://www.ipcc.ch/present/graphics/2001... This is the level of scientific understanding for each component. Notice how most components have a medium or low level of understanding. Does this make you think that they are 90% certain of their conclusion?
If you don't think that Global Warming is a serious issue, you are sadly mistaken.
8 of the 10 hottest years on record have all occured in the past decade. Now tell me thats just a "coincidence". Also, explain to me why there will be no more glaciers in Glacier National Park by the end of the decade. Not to mention, it rained in Antarctica in the Year 2000. Also, why is it that 2005 was the hottest Year on record dude? Why are polar bears drowning? Could it be that GLACIERS ARE MELTING? Why did over thirty thousand people die last summer in developed countries such as Asia and Europe. Could it be all the heat waves?
Global warming is affecting the world around us - including Global Temperatures, Hurricanes, the Oceans temp/acidification, Glacial Earthquakes, Wildfires, Droughts, Permafrost, and Soil Moisture.
Let me briefly explain the science of Global Warming - The suns rays travel through our atmosphere, reflect off the earth and go back into space. However, the atmosphere traps some of the sun's rays and helps keep the earth warm and at a stable temp. However, when were putting all the Carbon Dioxide/ Greenhouse Gases into the air, we are thickening the atmosphere. Thus, trapping more of the suns rays than necessary and causing Global Warming.
Look at the facts...as the Carbon Dioxide levels are going up in the atmosphere, so is the Temperature. Its almost directly proportional. When one goes up the other goes up, when one goes down the other goes down.
Last but not least, If you don't take action now, your daughter, and future generations will suffer because of our blatent ignorance.
You claim to know it isn't happening but then go on to demonstrate that it's a subject you don't know about. How can someone make an informed judgement when they're ignorant of the subject matter?
Next time, you may wish to state that people have talked about global warming for 196 years, that way, to those of us who know about the subject, your statements may have some credibility.
It would also be credible to state 111 years. If you know enough to make an informed judgement you'll know the significance of the years 1811 and 1896.
Hi there, your daughter will grow up but what kind of world will she live in? I do believe in global warming. We are putting too much pollution and gases into the environment and heating it up to the point in antarctica there is a whole ice chunk the size of california that has melted, that's pretty drastic and not good. See global warming not only affects summers being hotter but other seasons too, it makes dramatic climate changes and weather patterns, more storms, just in NY where I live we had a severe snowstorm Oct 13, that demolished 80% of our trees, that's early. We are having hotter summers, more storms, more damage and it's happening all over the world. Look at the tsumani, the earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, all more severe. We are just putting too much junk in our atmosphere and it's not only affecting weather, it's affecting everything, including our health with cancer rates and breathing disorders with rates climbing. Our honeybees are now affected too which affects our crops and food. We all need to be more aware of our actions and responsible for our environment.
Why would you doubt the facts of global warming? Easy test: Is the ice on the poles melting? Yes
Is ice melting atop mountains? Yes
Why is ice melting? It's warmer.
Are glaciers receding? Yes
Why?
Well, you get the idea.
I kind of believe in the general concept, but I don't really believe it is humans causing it. Thanks for the question my good pilgrim!
Well, if you are talking about K-12 school, ask the principal, and ask him to pass the idea on to the superintindent, that way the idea gets passed on to all schools in the district. If that doesn't work, get students and teachers to sign a petition. Hope this helps!
I believe in it but then again I'm not really doing much about it. Look at all the more natural disasters we've been having lately.. Forest fires in Cali, Georgia, Florida, Jersey... Big flooding is happening everywhere, that massive tsunami in Thailand in '04... Even the temp. has been wacky lately. For Philly anyway... I think our January was warmer than our April was. Every thing's gotta add up for a reason. And with all that we do to our planet, there's no wonder. Humans have been really careless for pretty much as long as we've existed. As long as there has been technology we've been developing more and more stuff to ruin the Earth, but make our own lives a little easier.. It's gotta catch up to us some time. I guess now it finally is.
