What are some plans for global warming resolution?

not just small scale things (those are good too) but also what are governments doing? (what is workable and what is pie in the sky?)

Answer:
My answer for global warming resolution would be get your head of the sand, quit finding ways to frighten yourself and get on with life. Global warming is a lie, or a huge guesstimation, and has never been close to proven. What should governments do, govern its people, not infringe on our freedoms by making us pay for the out of touch and crazy environmentalists theories. Go hug a tree.
humans cannot control the weather pattern on earth... never have and probably never will. Pollution is a problem. Global warming is political and al gore is part of a company profitting from it...
We, human, did not cause Global Warming. And nothing we can do to reverse it.

It's arrogant and nuts for anyone believes that we can do something to stop global warming.

They can't even predict the next week weather correctly. What make you think that they can predict the climate hundred of years from now.

Stop drinking the cool-aid.

The debate about global warming is NOT over. It's an on-going debate, don't say it's over to try to silence others. It's the communist tactic to silence people who have different opinions.
The first thing we have to do is accept that we can't do anything to stop it. It is a natural phenomenon. It could reverse at any time.
I wondered about GW too, then I saw some data that made me see that we HAVE affected the climate. Global temperatures have gone up and down over the millenniums and the rises and falls would closely follow volcanic eruptions. Until this last rise in temperature. The only way they could get anything to jive with the rise was to include the carbon emissions since the industrial revolution. With that data everything fell in place and the charts were in sync again.

That aside lets assume that we have had an influence on the climate for a second. Let's recognise that burning things creates carbon dioxide, a green house gas. It seems from that information that if we burn less we create less CO2. DUH, don't burn things, like gasoline, coal, natural gas, diesel oil, wood products, anything! !

Stop cutting down trees and let them breath in CO2 and breath out O2. Use Hemp to make paper like we used to do.

Let the oceans breath as well. 70% of our O2 comes from the oceans.

DO NOT use Hydrogen. Almost all of our Industrial Hydrogen comes from natural gas, but the by product of cracking NG to release hydrogen is CO2, the green house gas we are trying to avoid.

What are governments doing?

The USA is denying it, hoping it will go away.

China and India are just now at a growth spurt in their industrial evolution. China and India are both choking their rivers with sewage and industial waste. The air is so polluted that the citizens are dieing. Neither country can feed their own people. China has vowed to spend $14M to clean things up but that will barely touch the mess they have created.

Europe has made the strongest moves on the planet to clean the planet, but they need to stop burning things too.

Stop with the CO2 poisening.
Nothing I hope. They have already wasted enough money on this garbage.

2% of all greenhouse gasses is CO2. Less than 1% of global CO2 emissions are man made. Get.Over it.Liberals.
The issue of global warming has become politicized because it threatens established industrial practices and production of goods which have previously been utilized and/or sold without a sense of limit or finiteness. Successful business depends on remaining competitive for markets, profit, and valuation of stock for public corporations. When businesses' profit margins, potential and existing markets, and stock prices are threatened by shifts in public consciousness (regarding health concerns involving these business practices or products, for example) which can lead to shifts in governmental policies to regulate industrial behaviors or production (or policies to encourage new technologies/processes/product... that may supplant more "traditional" ones), the industry's fear prompts and elicits counter-arguments around this shift in public consciousness - in this case re: Global Warming patterns. And, because most of these older technology business owners want to protect profits, they tend to be politically conservative. Conservative governments also fear that any sudden change in traditional methods of keeping the economy strong - a la "environmentalists" seeking broad change in ecological protections policies that may affect current practices of production - may affect the national economy and upset economic growth and balance. Global Warming then becomes politicized, with statistics becoming distorted and reduced to sound-bites for the populace to buy into in order to support their "team", liberal vs. conservative. One might continue to question what motivations are behind the different sides in the "controversy" surrounding Global Warming.

Regarding control of Global Warming - it seems as though any effort is better than none in terms of encouraging sustainability. Technologies that expend more energy than what the final product gives back (in terms of food calories, electricity, leisure or convenience) are not sustainable; perpetual use of non-sustainable energy sources deplete resources at a faster rate than they can be renewed. This will eventually lead to dwindling resources. By-products of energy sources such as petroleum (a non-sustainable resource) also create pollution which can create adverse health effects, as well as possibly leading to advents such as increases in global temperatures, aka Global Warming.

From The Washington Post (see source link):
"Since 1800 there's been modest global warming. I'm unqualified to judge between those scientists (the majority) who blame man-made greenhouse gases and those (a small minority) who finger natural variations in the global weather system. But if the majority are correct, the IEA (International Energy Agency) report indicates we're now powerless. We can't end annual greenhouse emissions, and once in the atmosphere, the gases seem to linger for decades. So concentration levels rise. They're the villains; they presumably trap the world's heat. They're already about 36 percent higher than in 1800. Even with its program, the IEA says another 45 percent rise may be unavoidable. How much warming this might create is uncertain; so are the consequences."

Regarding policies and practices that governments are enacting, please look at the other source links included in this post. The BBC has put together a good overview re: climate change, including looking at policies. The country of Cuba is also a model in many ways re: sustainability; Global Exchange, a non-profit organization seeking environmental and social justice on a global scale, also has good information re: sustainability practices in Cuba. Many countries are looking to Cuba for ideas re: policies and practices to help counter Global Warming trends through sustainability.

I hope this info addresses some of the previous posts' political dismissal of Global Warming and our place re: attempting to diminish these trends, as well as providing resources for what governments are doing with encouraging new policies and practices.

we need to prepare for a warmer earth thats it, we cant stop it because we are not the cause. I think we should cut fuel consumption because its not renuable unless its biofuel. IF you look through earths history there is no average tempature. the enviroment used to be much hotter than it is now and we are just moveing back to that state or maybe notthe problem I see with co2 and global warming is that plants of all kinds use this as a fuel in ther photosynthisis. if there was that much co2 in the air it would be ofset by the plant matter, they convert co2 into oxygen. whos to say that the climate that we are used to seeing in the last mellenia is the optimal type of wether the planet might just as well prefer it to be warmer infact in our past the planet has gone through cycles where its been much hotter than it is now. We might just be entering this face naturally . .. look up a phrase mini ice age it will explain something about how our climate has been for the last several hundred years. the amount of carbon gasses released from cars is dwarfed in comparison to some of the volcanos that have erupted in the last hundred years .
