how long does it take for it to turn white? my uncle has one at his house and its white..

my mom and me do sand dollar art and we found out after we got our first sand dollars,they turned yellow,then we went to a shell store and we found out we need to get some bleach,and we soaked them in a bucket of bleach,so they could turn white.so what you need to do is soak them in bleach,they won't do it by them selves.
Brown ones are EXTREMELY RARE - try selling it on EBAY.
for them to turn white you have to soak them in bleach(which kills them)

They don't turn white naturally. They are bleached by people to make them that way.
Fill a saucer with bleach and put the sand dollar in it. It should only take about an hour. Once it is white, remove, rinse and let dry in the sun.

hopefully you won't. keep it alive in a salt water (or fresh water depending on where you found it) fish tank, or take it back to the beach. It's brown it means it's alive still. white sand dollars are dead and it's just the skeletons.

I've seen naturally white sand dollars on the beach.
If the sand dollar you picked up is still brown and hairy, it's still alive. Soaking in bleach would be a cruel way to kill it. But if it's dead...feel free to soak it in bleach.
Usually...the sand dollar should turn white when the hairs and tube feet decompose.
I had one and it never did turn white.You should not remove them from the beach.I only took the one and will not do it again.
