Do any of you use a clothes line to dry your clothes instead of the dryer?
Answer:
Ya, you have a great idea about that. I don't like when my clothes and towls are all stiff. So 10 minutes in the dryer would work great! Also the clothes dryer heats up my apartment like crazy in the summer!
yes, its windy where I am, and it takes about as long.
I wish I could but I live in the city. They would be gone before they got dry.
I try to use a clothes line to dry as much clothes as possible. It is an easy way to save energy.
no idont like my clothes smelling like my next door neighbors fire pit . always makes my clothers smell like they are burnt . nasty . no thank you i will stick with my dryer . good luck .
yes i do ,with bad asthma a dryer is out of the question besides they smell better and you save money and its green to the earth(thanks for reminding me i have wet cloths to hang)
yes, in the spring/summer we dry all but personal items on the line, using fabic softner ,instead of sheets , save on electric and we love the fresh smell
I always use a clothes line unless it's raining or too cold. Jeans don't shrink so much and everything smells better!
Towels are so much softer if it's windy though.
Yes I use my cloths line here in downtown Glenwood Springs Colorado, today however it is raining.
In the summer I always put my clothes out on a line to dry.
It's not easy to dry-line where I live. Between the sudden rains and the pollen and the pine trees I would end up needing to rewash every load over and over again. I am considering some sort of dry-line system I could place in my garage, but I haven't found one right for my situation just yet. Any advice? In the mean time I make sure to clean my dryer filter, adjust the drying time to the type of clothes and so on.
nope i always let all my shirts hang on my patio until it drys so u arent the only one who does it and u shouldnt be ashamed of it if u still do it
don't forget that your expensive clothes (cheap ones too) will last about 4 times longer. It could be even more than 4 times.
I am planning on getting a line to dry my stuff during the warm months... But right now I am trying to find the best, least expensive way to do it.
Good for you, for at least doing MOST of the drying outside.
I love line dried clothes! In addition to saving energy, you get clothes that smell good, and the fibers in your clothes aren't beat up. A washing machine puts a beating on your clothes anyway, and the drier puts on the finishing touches. Conserve energy, and save your clothes!
Yeah, unless it's storming . . . besides, our dryer's broken. >.<
During the spring and summer, I use a clothesline, but in the winter, my dryer is put to good use.
I would love to, but pollen acumuates on them and then I am allergic to my clothing.
We put clothes on the line when it is really sunny and breezy. It saves $ and they smell great. The whites come out whiter too. I wish that the black clothing would not show the lint though.
My mother did this when I was growing up - I just loved the smell. I did this when my children were really small also.
Now, they go from the washer to the dryer.
I just don't have the time anymore to do this plus everything else I have to do on weekend because of me working.
I'd love to stay home and hang clothes out to dry, however, a lot of places (anymore) consider it an 'eye sore' and won't allow it.
I do not own a dryer so all my drying is done on a line.
But there is a little difference here in Japan we use a clothes pipe.It sits on two hooks in the balcony.Majority of the Japanese dry their clothes this way.You can find a dryer in the coin laundry.
I've been begging my boyfriend to install a clothes line in my yard for the last 3 years. I have the tinyest washer and dryer and it takes forever to dry clothes. But now, i'm buying a new house, and, by god i'm going to dry most of them from now on outside. ;) I can't wait! lol
yes i do.
Yes, it's a really good idea. Sure, it takes a little longer, but it's well worth it. It saves you money for the dryer and power bill. Plus, it helps reduce your energy consumption, thus helping the environment. If that's not enough, your clothes are less wrinkled.
Sadly, I live in an apartment and don't have the ability (except my towels). They again, as a guy in a non-sweating job I have very little laundry to do each week (sheets, 2 jeans, 4 shirts, towels and my "unmentionables")
My lil brother lives in the country and they use a line all the time.
He also gathers all of their "grey-water" from washer, sinks and the roofs in a cistern for irrigation and fire-fighting.
I love drying my clothes out out on the clothesline. It's better for the environment and the clothes smell great!
I grew up in Colorado and we had a line in the yard you can also buy round types that fit on balconies and in smaller yards. I never saw the need for the 10min in the dryer though line dried clothes always smell so nice and are softer. We even hung clothes out i the winter and although it took longer they still dried - they froze first but they dried.
I live in an apartment and have a rack on my balcony or I use my second bathroom and hang them on the curtain bar.
You betcha! I refuse to use my dryer between the months of April and November. (Northern IL)
We used to when we lived in the country but now that we're in the city our back yard is so small that our cloth line would be in the alley way.
It's an awesome idea though. I'm gonna start doing it again when I have a bigger yard.
For now I let them drain in the bath tube and put them in the dryer for a shorter time.
