The smoking ban is BAD for the environment?

Some one just made the comment on another question I have posted about a stag night they are arranging for 80 people. They will be jetting off out of the UK into Europe to hold the party to avoid the smoking ban. That got me thinking. I have a good job and I earn very good money so I can afford to do the same. Say, once a month me and some mate can jet off for the weekend around Europe to experience the nightlife of other countries and enjoy a smoke with our beer.

No very good for our carbon foot print but very good for my sanity. You want me to wake up to Global Warming and the environment then give smokers back the right to have a smoking area in Pubs, bars and nightclubs. Until then. I say stuff the environment and Global Warming. Anyone else agree?

Answer:
yes it's just getting mentel now, soon they will stop you in your own cars then in your own home
It is not bad for the environment. It will save lives, smoking shud never have been invented and im soooo glad of the ban! Maybe mroe people will give up smoking... FINALLY!
To an extent but it is going to be more and more damging for the economy than the environment as people will be smoking less and therefore not paying as much tobacco duty, workers that had smoking facilities on their work site will now have to spend more time leaving their work site to smoke therefore reducing their productivity.
No, give up smoking and you'll be able to enjoy the nightlife over here, without polluting the atmosphere, yourself, and being a liability to the NHS
How selfish. I hope your children - should you ever have any - don't have to live with the consequences of your stuff-everyone-else I'm-doing-what-I-want attitude.
Destroy the planet because your miffed?

Oh yes, excellent idea...
smokers have had their human rights infringed here, it wont be long before the non smokers are complaining about all the extra taxes they are having to pay due to the amount of smokers giving up!!
for everything good there is an evil to replace!
Depends on where you go - most European countries already have, or will soon have smoking bans as well. Here in Belgium we've been smoke free since Jan 1st. France is the same, as is Holland.

Cigarettes are a thing of the past, get over it.
I wouldn't say "Stuff the environment" but I agree that pubs should be allowed to have separate areas.
I won't be going to the pub anymore, me and my mates are having house party's from now on.
No.
Just quit, for god's sake. The UK has finally woken up and rejected smoking as being socially acceptable. No-one needs to smoke, you've all just convinced your bodies that you do.
And for anyone that says smokers are having their human rights infringed upon; does the same go for herion addicts? That's illegal too...
What about us non-smokers? is it not infringing our human rights when everywhere we go our lungs are being slowly destroyed by your smoke? The only way we could have avoided that is by never leaving the house. You can avoid your problem by quitting. Losing the addiction.
I know you're all pissed off but just stop being so damn childish! To want to do something even more just because it's been banned?!
Grow up.
NO
Why should smokers have rights, what rights to give us non smokers smelly hair and clothes. Get real smokers belong ouside where the smoke can go wherever. As for building smoke huts for them, and the NHS wasting millions on the stupid smokers, what about people who have real problems.
Smoking isn't an environmental question... it's a public health question.

Several million cigarettes lit at the same time is nothing compared to one power plants in a 24 hour period in terms of carbon emissions.

As an environmentalist, I say, let the man smoke outdoors as long as it ain't hurting anyone.
Yet another bitter, bitter, junky smoker, how sad, how very very sad.
You have a really good point but the fact is that people who are as priviledged as you are very rare, especially those willing to spend so much money, ghost flights-empty planes which are flown just to keep the company's slot at a busy airport such as heathrow pose a much greater threat, air travel could get more environmentally friendly too. Sorry for this stupid warning but smoking isn't clever. Just think of your kids or family, how would they feel if you died from lung cancer? Trust me, they would be very sad and i certainly felt some of the blame resided on me for not warning my close uncle.
I think anyone who flies off every month just to have a few fags in a pub is a bit of a sad act. You can still smoke for gods sake, whats the big deal.
All smokers nicotine now goe`s into the outside
air before it used to stick to the pub ceiling.
As people pass as we stand out side they get the smoke
and step into the road to go round thus getting knocked
down. Will they get cops to move us on ?
Me and my partner have been getting away like this for about 2yrs now. Its doesn't cost anymore than having weekends out at home and we have met some great people. Sometimes its a large group and sometimes its just the 2 of us meeting people over there. Winter is an absolute bargain! Im home at the moment and was out last night with my niece who is a non-smoker and while I was outside under a gazebo with a patio heater having a chat with various people she was inside bored waiting for the gossip. She also said she could smell the toilets now that the smoke wasn't covering it up. We were in Ibiza last week and are heading for Majorca next week, its addictive. GO FOR IT!
well ! if we take the environment in consideration ,smoking is good..
more of smoking, more of cancer patients, increment in death rate ,decrease in population , less of natural resourse usage and therefore a long lasting earth...
the first thing every smoker deep down wants to be a non smoker ,but they just think, it a case of willpower and they think they have non (not true).Like any addiction once it get a hold it takes understanding, awareness and empathy to deal with it.The second if people want to travel across the world to smoke then let them, they have free will and we have a global environmental issue that we need to work together on and smoking is an individual environmental issue. The third thing Alan Carr has written a great book called easy way to stop smoking it help lots of smokers i know and they could smoke while thy read it.The fourth is we will see some positive and negative trends in relation to the non smoking in public places issue ie cause and effect.more smokers out side pubs maybe more fights or people having the self respect to say this is enough ,i am going to stop and love my self that little bit more
you do realise that co2 doesnt cause global warming, go watch the great global warming swindle and you will see the facts for yourself
go to hell come to refresh in Paradise
sounds good to me, can i join you ? I'm finding it really tough to go out for a pint and no ***. I went out last Saturday night with a girl, both of us wanted a smoke, so went outside for a smoke, and as people came out they started moaning about us smoking outside, for F*** sake, are we harming anyone outside ? what boring F****** they have to find something to moan about.
Not really it will save you money and it could help you keep lung cancer away from you!
The non- smokers DON'T realize that It's harder to quit smoking cigarettes ,than quitting heroin. It takes 2,000 cigs
lit at the same time to equal the pollution of 1 car muffler. We DON'T see anyone telling politicians to force car makers to lower pollution from cars.OH ! NO! they tell us to JUST QUIT.
The smoking ban is not bad for the environment. In fact,it is good for the environment. If people/passive smoker inhale the smoke from smoker's cigarette, the people/passive smoker may get the illness as wat the normal smoker may get, just that it is worse.

Illness smoker may get:
Lung Cancer
