Why do I continue to hear always about "global warming"When I think we should be discussing the rape of our
Answer:
It's a good question. The scope of "global warming" is huge. I guess people can't cope with more than that.
My belief though is that by waking people up on the issue of global warming might raise their interest in other environmental concerns as well. These issues don't always go hand in hand (like in the scary example of cutting down rain forests to produce ethanol) but if we start to deal with climate change, I think other aspects on our earth's health condition will follow naturally. We will HAVE TO deal with those issues as well, because with decreasing natural resources we can't afford not to.
Humans cannot destroy the earth. We dropped 2 nukes on Japan. Guess what; we're still here.
Contrarily, why did the poor Vikings get caught in a quick freeze, after living in harmony with the earth for scores of years of Greenland? They never used fossil fuels, or cut down rain forests...That rotten planet earth!
That was "Viking Disposal Year".
You make a good point. Considering all the millions of tons of toxic stuff pumped into the earth, water and air over the years it is pretty absurd to worry about CO2 which is non-toxic and absolutely essential to life on this planet. Whatever pop-alarmists say we know that the climate was warmer in the year 1000 than it is now. Climate change is not new and there's not much we can do about it.
A rose is a rose is a rose.....what difference does it make what you call it?
It should be, but sadly not to many people care. I do, but alot don't.
Because it's not "our" earth - it's your 1/3 acre, it's my 1/3 acre, etc. and everyone disagrees as to what is a "good" use of one's property, including real property - - - my using mine in a way you wouldn't is not my "raping our earth" any more than you using your property in a way I wouldn't is "raping our earth." You get to use the 1/3 acre you bought the way you want, and I get to use the 1/3 acre I bought the way I want - - - - well actually I sold my 1/3 acre in 2005 and now rent and invest the proceeds, but the good economy and the tax cuts that produced it are another topic in another forum.
I beg your pardon.
I take GREAT CARE when I defecate on our beloved earth.
